Circles – The BIG M Review

Label: Perfect pop co-op
Location: St Albans
Est: 2013

Potted history:

During a lull in recording with our band The Scratch, drummer, bassist and singer Terry John and Andy started playing on a Tuesday evening inviting other local musician friends to join them. This evolved into 8 piece band The Tuesday Club…. Which was no one’s main band, just a bit of fun on the side. We started the Perfect Pop Co-op with the plan to release music from everyone involved musical projects.

Mission statement:
We come from the era when pop music was the perfect 3 minutes of 7 inch vinyl -The weird and the wonderful could make it onto top of the pops and be considered pop music. Things like Virginia Plain – Roxy Music, Get it on – T. rex, Blue Monday – New Order, Ant Music – Adam and the Ants, Love Action – Human League, Ghosts – Japan, Wood Beez – Scritti Politi, o superman -Laurie Anderson, are friends electric – tube way army. The eclecticness of the TOTPs is what made it so good. We wanted to produce outsider pop.

Key artists & releases:
The Tuesday Club of course, now 3 albums in, the DODOs 2014 psychedelic pop album ‘DIY or Die’. The mad Reverse Family 365 project… writing and recording a track everyday for a year, then releasing them all one day at a time for a year. The Bleeed 2 EPs. Andreas & the Wolf’s debut album ‘fountain of truth’ and Faction Structure’s LP

Future plans:

A second Andreas & the Wolf album is imminent – sci-fi for your hi-fi, Faction Structure have another 4 albums already in bag and will be released in due course.
The latest band on the label will be narcotic hearts, whose debut will be out soon

Any other business:
Andreas & the Wolf have a long running perfect pop co op podcast on mixcloud playing a mix of tracks old and new which inspire them plus a smattering of perfect pop releases…
